2019    A "Moving" Year

Moving From:  January 1st found us driving from Felton down to Monterey, trailer in tow. As the due date for the completion of our new home in Gardnerville, Nevada was not until May 2019, we found ourselves living aboard our 25' Airstream "Stella" for the first 4 1/2 months of 2019. Fortunately we were able to stay at the beautiful Laguna Seca Recreation Area campgrounds for the entire time, without fees, in exchange for 'camp host' duties. That meant manning the park entry station for 30 hours per week. So, each workday Michael would get up at 4am to go to work; then relieve Danielle around 1pm. Throughout the Winter and Spring, we made several trips to Gardnerville to view the progress on our new home and to work with the builder on a number of modifications and upgrades.

The grandkids had a fun time hunting eggs, and the adults had a fun time watching them :-)  This was the youngest granddaughter's first Easter and she was (as always) adorable.
Moving To: At last, we took possession of our new home on May 2nd, although some finishing work continued until June. After 40+ years living on the Monterey Peninsula, we are blessed to be living in another area of great natural beauty.  We could fill a dozen pages with sunrise and sunset images of the mountains, taken from our backyard.  We've only just begun to explore the nearby hiking trails and lakes.  Gardnerville, elevation 4750', is a small town, but everything we really need is within a 10-20 minute drive.  Lake Tahoe is 25 minutes away; Carson City is 25 minutes away, and Reno is less than an hour away.  The biggest change is that we are now living  in four-season country.  And we can't see the ocean.
